Banner gearing up for 40th anniversary
M. B. Miller
This fall the Bay State Banner will celebrate its
40th birthday. Every week for 40 years, rain or shine, in summer’s
heat or winter’s snow, the Banner was always there for its
readers. Stories about the community’s successes and the
challenges helped chart the course to attain empowerment.
Now that the racial minority in Boston has grown to be a majority
of the population, we believe the role of the Banner in future
years will be even more important. With the continued support
of the community, the Banner will be there as a strong advocate.
As the Banner turns 40 there will be some gradual changes in the
look of the paper. The first is to shorten the masthead of the
Boston Banner to the Banner. Also, our 40th anniversary logo shall
appear on the mastheads. These changes will begin next week.
The survival of the Banner for 40 years is a cause of celebration.
On Saturday, October 29 the Banner will host a black tie gala
at the Seaport Hotel. Click here
