One day at a time

Once you begin treatment for depression:

Take your medications
It may take several weeks before you notice a change.
Once you feel better, continue to take your medicine as prescribed.

Keep yourself going
Try not to become isolated. Participate in normal activities, such as going to church. Spend time with family and friends.

Take care of yourself
Follow a healthy diet, get the right
amount of sleep, and exercise
regularly. Exercise has found to help
treat some forms of depression, and
can ease stress.

Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs
Drinking too much alcohol or using drugs will impede or prevent your recovery.

Talk to your doctor or therapist regularly
Your doctor will monitor your progress, change your medication if necessary, and provide support and encouragement.
