One less statistic

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends vaccination against cervical cancer for girls and young women ages 9 to 26. But keep in mind — the vaccine:

• May not fully protect everyone

• Is not for women who are pregnant

• Will not treat cervical cancer

• May have side effects, such as pain, swelling, and itching or redness at the injection site

• Will not prevent all types of cervical cancer, so women must continue routine cervical cancer screenings
