Teacher Educator
Secondary Level

Museum of Science, Boston


POSITION SUMMARY:
Design, organize, and run high-quality teacher professional development workshops and institutes about secondary level science, engineering, mathematics, and technology concepts and skills that model appropriate pedagogies. Cultivate relationships with secondary level teachers, curriculum coordinators, and district administrators throughout the year to understand the situation in the schools and to communicate what the Museum has to offer. Serve as a Museum liaison to formal educational settings. Work with staff across the Museum to offer high quality programs, exhibits, and courses that will appeal to teachers and their students, that align with standards, and that model pedagogical strategies. Work with the Web team to create systems and technologies that help educators to most effectively use and navigate the Museum and Museum and National Center for Technological Literacy (WWW.NCTL.ORG) curriculum materials. Collaborate with scientists and engineers at other universities and organizations to provide guidance, advice, or services to offer professional development. Collaborate with others around the Museum who are developing content that might result in teacher development activities. Oversee the work of interns of volunteers. Pilot possible workshop activities on the floors of the Museum and in classrooms. Stay apprised of STEM movements at the State and National levels. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field, and/or education required; Masterís degree preferred. 5 to 10 years experience required. Teaching/educational experience desired.
