A.B.L.E. offers mature workers financial assistance
Operation A.B.L.E. of Greater Boston, the leading provider of job training and employment services to mature job seekers age 45 and older, has announced that a limited number of scholarships are now available for qualified applicants to its 19-week computer and Microsoft Office skills training program.
The next cycle of Operation EmployABLE classes begins on Monday, March 12. Candidates interested in learning how the program can improve their chances in today’s highly competitive job market are urged to contact the program manager, Enery Martinez, at 617-542-4180 ext. 124.
According to Executive Director Joan Cirillo, the tuition assistance, which comes from a variety of funding sources, offers financial relief to qualified applicants who may not otherwise have the resources to pay for the training themselves.
“The availability of financial aid means that qualified job seekers who need computer and Microsoft Office training in order to get back to work will be able to get it without having to go into debt,” Cirillo said. “The Operation EmployABLE program gives participants everything they need to find meaningful employment in an area of interest to them — including intense training in how to use the Internet for job searching.”
Operation EmployABLE is 19 weeks of in-depth training in Microsoft Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook); Internet and email; office skills training and extensive job search skills. Classes meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Operation A.B.L.E.’s 131 Tremont Street headquarters, located across from Park Street Station.
Founded in 1982, Operation A.B.L.E. (Ability Based on Long Experience) of Greater Boston, Inc. (www.operationable.net) is a private, nonprofit, 501c(3) organization that provides employment and training services for mature workers 45 and older.
