Stephanie Lovell

Stephanie Lovell recently joined the Boston Medical Center as vice president and general counsel. Lovell previously served in the Office of the Attorney General for more than six years, including three years as first assistant attorney general, the office’s second-in-command.

Overall, Lovell was responsible for 200 lawyers and more than 200 state police personnel, investigators, paralegals, financial analysts and other professionals.

Before joining the Office of the Attorney General in September 2000, Lovell held senior positions at the State Ethics Commission for eight years, including nearly five years as its executive director. She also served as litigation counsel for the Boston School Committee.

“Stephanie brings a wealth of experience to this role and we are delighted to have her join BMC,” said Elaine Ullian, president and CEO of Boston Medical Center.

In January, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce recognized Lovell’s public service contributions with the 2007 Pinnacle Award for Achievement in Management in Government.

Lovell’s private sector legal experience includes the former Fitch, Wiley, Richlin & Tourse, the largest minority-owned law firm in New England, and the former Hill & Barlow.

She is involved in many professional and civic activities and has served as a member of the Association Diversity Task Force, Court Management Advisory Board, Boston Bar Association Council and the Joint Bar Committee for Judicial Appointments. She was chair of the Public Law Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association, and has served as a member of the board of directors of the Forsyth Institute, which promotes oral health through research and education. She has also been a member of the board of directors and chair of strategic planning for the City School.
