Grammy Award-winning pianist, composer and band-leader Eddie Palmieri, dubbed the “Sun of Latin Jazz,” will be honored by Harvard University April 11-14. Dorchester and Roxbury Family YMCAs Celebrate Annual Healthy Kids Day
From 10 a.m.–1 p.m., the Dorchester and Roxbury Family YMCAs will celebrate Healthy Kids Day. Healthy Kids Day is a free, fun-filled day of activities designed to promote healthy kids and families in spirit, mind and body. Healthy Kids Day community-based events celebrate making fitness fun, and introduce kids to an array of YMCA programs that teach healthy behaviors and healthy ways to play — an essential lesson in learning how to take care of themselves throughout their lifetimes.
Healthy Kids Day is part of YMCA Activate America, an innovative public health initiative of the YMCA movement that is making healthy living a reality for millions of Americans. Some of the activities at this year’s event include free healthy food samples, parent and child exercise program, summer camp information and free health screenings. There will also be fun prizes and giveaways.

“Nathan’s Journey” Book Signing
“Nathan’s Journey” was written for children ages 8 and over to help them understand why an autistic sibling or friend is different. The book traces Nathan’s progress through special needs school to a time when he becomes class president and plays basketball for a local team. Adults will also find the book uplifting and filled with valuable information about helping an autistic child. The author of this moving and riveting story is Helen Barclay, Nathan’s mother. A must read for everyone who has been touched by this disorder and those who have not. You can meet Helen and Nathan at the upcoming book signing between 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Grove Hall Branch Library, 5 Crawford St., Dorchester.
