Deloris S. Tuggle
Canton resident Deloris S. Tuggle was recently promoted to senior vice president of human resources at the May Institute in Randolph, Mass. The Institute is an award-winning national network of research-based services for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities, mental retardation, brain injury and behavioral healthcare needs.
“Ms. Tuggle has been a valued employee of May Institute for the past six years, first as director of employment, and most recently as director of human resources,” said Walter P. Christian, president and CEO of the Institute, a private nonprofit organization with over 2,000 employees. “In her new position, she is responsible for overseeing all human resources efforts company-wide. She will actively participate in strategic planning, evaluate the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of existing human resources programs, and implement new programs.”
Over the course of her career, Tuggle has developed numerous areas of expertise in the human resources field, including employee relations, contract negotiation, diversity initiatives, recruitment, and staff training and development. She has written columns on human resources-related topics for local publications, including The Boston Globe’s BostonWorks and The Boston Herald’s Women’s Business Boston, and has been a presenter at numerous conferences.
Tuggle earned a bachelor’s degree in human services and a master’s degree in dispute resolution from the University of Massachusetts-Boston, and holds a certificate in human resource management from Northeastern University. She also serves on a number of committees, including the Department of Mental Retardation Metro West Diversity Committee, the Town of Canton Fair Housing Commission, the Granite Diversity Committee, and the Northeast Human Resources Association’s Diversity Committee, of which she is co-chair.
