Cheryl Howard
Cheryl Howard, former vice president of marketing for the Personal Care Group of the Gillette Company, was recently named vice president of marketing at Simmons College in Boston.
Howard, a 1971 Simmons College alumna, will lead university-wide marketing efforts that raise awareness of and competitively position Simmons College, drive admissions inquiries, and increase alumni support. She oversees marketing, publications, public relations, advertising, online marketing and advancement communications.
Howard earned an M.B.A. in general management and a D.B.A. in marketing from Harvard University. She went on to positions of increasing responsibility in national and international brand and new product development marketing. From 1992 to 2004, she held leadership positions at the Gillette Company in all business units including grooming, stationery products, Duracell, OralB/Braun, and personal care. In 2002, Howard was appointed vice president of marketing for the Personal Care Division.
From 1988 to 1992, Howard served as market development manager for the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Industry Group at Digital Equipment Company. She led the design and implementation of public relations, marketing, advertising and educational programs aimed at CPG customers. She was a member of the Core Team for DECWORLD, a two-week educational conference for 20,000 worldwide customers held every other year in Boston at the World Trade Center.
