Description:
Berklee College of Music seeks a mental health professional to work in a nontraditional environment providing individual counseling services to students which include crisis intervention, and psychiatric hospitalization referrals as needed. You will receive great clinic supervision, and work with a dynamic team. Your counseling services should have an emphasis or special interest in working with men and men’s issues. You will have the opportunity to advise students about concerns in relation to their cultural adjustment and diversity, as well as the counseling staff in regards to multicultural counseling. Join the Berklee Community by participating on committees to address issues and develop initiatives to enhance diversity and inclusion across campus with a focus on servicing African American students. You will collaborate with administrators, faculty, and students related to diversity awareness on campus with an emphasis on student wellness and mental health. Master’s degree in Counseling or related area required. Licensed (LICSW, LMHC, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent) or license-eligible with one year of hire required. Minimum of 3 years experience providing counseling services. Strong psychological assessment./differential diagnosis skills; individual and group counseling skills. One year of experience treating a high-risk population (in-patient, day treatment, hotline counseling or acute outpatient). Solid knowledge of multicultural theories and models applicable to counseling. Two years experience working with diverse populations required. Experience working with African American populations preferred. Experience providing outreach and programming related to diversity awareness and cultural adjustment issues. Knowledge of student development and psychological theories and principles. Experience in college mental health preferred. Familiarity with mental health systems and resources, and medical insurance eligibility requirements. Strong organization, communication, consultation, and training skills.
