From 10 a.m.-7 p.m., rain or shine, at Institute Park on Salisbury St. in Worcester. Admission is free. This year’s outdoor festival takes place on two stages, with something for everyone. Performers include Hip hop gospel, by H.O.P.E. Recordz; R & B tinged hip-hop Committee Inc., Entertainment; gospel tinged blues and jazz with The Donna McElroy Quartet; pop, 70’s Funk with Decades by Dezyne; and gospel by Rodney McFadden. Liberian dance and workshop will be lead by Won Ldy Paye, and featuring Village Drum and Masquerade. Children’s performances & activities offer Afro-Caribbean drumming lead by Nisha Urushotham & the Aldergate Drummers; Capiera dance with Efraim Silva & the Ginga Brasileira Dance Co., Bonaparte the Magician, African mask making, face painting & doll making. Opening Day — DCR and Community Boating Accessible Sailing on the Charles
Starting Sunday, June 24, the Dept. of Conservation and Recreation and Community Boating Inc. will begin offering a summer sailing program on the Charles River for people with disabilities, their friends, and families. Persons with disabilities and their guests will have the use of accessible sailboats and transfer equipment, staff assistance to get in and out of the boats, and sailing instruction. Several seat configurations in the boat are available for people with various disabilities. Community Boating will charge each participant $1 (One Dollar). Advance registration is required.
