Torrance Childs
Torrance Childs was recently named senior vice president and director of Boston sales for the deposit management area of Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boston Private Financial Holdings, Inc.
Childs, who has spent the past 24 years in the financial industry, has substantial experience in leading the growth of major banking operations.
Prior to joining Boston Private Bank, Childs served as a regional executive of the community banking division for Bank of America, as a member of Bank of America’s Management Operating Committee, and as president of Fleet Community Bank.
During the course of his career, Childs has also held executive positions with BankBoston, Bank of New England, and BayBank.
An active and engaged community leader, Childs serves as chair of the Boston Main Streets Foundation, a public-private initiative established by the City of Boston in 1995 with the aim of revitalizing the city’s neighborhood commercial districts.
He is also a member of both the Boston Private Bank & Trust Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Committee and the Boston Urban Bankers Forum and Partnership, and is the former co-chairman of Freedom House’s Champion of Freedom Event, and is a former member of Bank of America’s Massachusetts Foundation Committee.
Childs holds a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University, and is a frequent guest speaker at area universities. He currently resides in the town of Milton.
