Anti-Violence Rally
All Day Anti-Violence Rally, Panel Discussion, Divine Service, “Walk for Peace,” and Evening Benefit Gospel Concert: “Stop the Violence! Yes You Can! Don’t Talk About It, Be About It.” Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, 1350 Tremont St., Roxbury, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., featuring local experts, the “Ghetto Preacher” Willie Ramos (former gang member), and speaker Gary James, then “Walk for Peace” over to Berea SDA Church, 108 Seaver St., Dorchester for workshops, and Gospel Concert at 6pm (free will offering) with Renese King and the Angelic Voices of Praise, Rally Day Mass Choir, BT Mass Choir, Teen Challenge Boston Choir, and many other singers. Masonic Child Identification Program
The Psi Omega (Boston Graduate) Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in cooperation with the Prince Hall Grand Lodge F&AM, Grand Lodge of Massachusetts AF&AM and the Roxbury Community College Office of Student Activities invite you and your children, age 18 and younger, to participate in the free and comprehensive Masonic Child Identification Program. Activities will be held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the campus of Roxbury Community College in room 200 of the student center. The address is 1234 Columbus Ave. in Roxbury, Massachusetts, located near the Roxbury Crossing MBTA station and accessible by the 15, 19, 22, 23, 28, 42, 44, and 45 MBTA bus routes. Applications and appointments are not necessary. In just minutes, each participating child will have a brief videotape interview made to capture their mannerisms and speech patterns, a digital still photograph, fingerprints taken, and a Toothprint® impression made. All identification materials created are free and will be given to the parent or guardian of participating children with instructions for safekeeping. No copies are kept on file with any of the sponsoring organizations.

Chinatown Oak Street Fair
The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC) is hosting its 22nd annual Oak Street Fair, a family festival that is free and open to the public. With the participation of local organizations and businesses, there will be tables featuring games, activities, and health screenings and useful service information. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Oak and Shawmut Streets (Rooftop playground of Josiah Quincy Elementary School). Activities include a watermelon eating contest, arts and crafts, children performances, health screening and service information. BCNC’s annual Oak Street Fair is Chinatown’s big community block party for families in the Greater Boston area. Featuring activity stations for children, teens, and their families, Oak Street Fair celebrates community and brings individuals together from Chinatown and beyond. This year’s 22nd annual Oak Street Fair anticipates 2,000+ individuals, and is a draw of tourism from neighborhood communities and beyond to Boston’s Chinatown community.

Madison Park Village First Annual Walk-A-Thon
From 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Sonrisa Haynes, Pauline Sheridan, and Edna Dudley (the Madison Park Village Peer Leaders) will host the first annual Madison Park Village Walk-A-Thon. The goal of this event is promote healthier living through walking around and throughout our housing community while learning how to eat well and exercise more.

Watercolor Painting Workshops in Franklin Park

National Advocates Convene on Healthcare Disparities of Black Women
The Boston Black Women’s Health Institute is hosting an afternoon of tea and conversation on the state of black women’s health with Byllye Yvonne Avery, founder of the national Black Women’s Health Imperative, from 3-5 p.m. at Simmons College in Boston. The event, at in the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center in the Main College Building, 300 The Fenway, is free and open to the public. An R.S.V.P. is required for admission.
