The 12th Annual Mayor’s Cup Tennis Tournament, held Aug. 15-19 at the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club at Harambee Park in Dorchester, gave young Boston-area youths the chance to participate in a citywide tennis tournament. At the recent Blue Hill Club rededication ceremony held last week, Mayor Thomas M. Menino joined Linda Whitlock (right), president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB), and Daphne Griffin, former executive director at the Blue Hill Club and new executive director at the Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF), in reopening the Blue Hill Club’s facility at 15 Talbot Avenue in Dorchester. The center, which underwent $7 million worth of renovations thanks to funding from the BGCB and George Robert White Fund, now boasts a fully enclosed swimming pool with retractable roof (above), a state-of-the-art music studio and a new teen center and pre-teen lounge.
