Corita Kent Arts & Culture Talks Lecture Series Presents Author Michael Patrick Macdonald Discussing “Easter Rising”
The Dorchester Arts Collaborative (DAC), Dorchester Historical Society (DHS) and Commonwealth Museum present the second installment of the Corita Kent Arts & Culture Talks, with a conversation between author and South Boston native Michael Patrick MacDonald and Boston Magazine columnist Joe Keohane. The lecture series is named for artist Corita Kent, best known for her Rainbow Gas Tank near the Southeast Expressway in Dorchester. This Irish-American themed program for St. Patrick’s Day is FREE and takes place at the Commonwealth Museum, 220 Morrissey Blvd., Dorchester (in between UMass Boston and the JFK Library) at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7. MOUTHFUL: An Open Mic for Open Minds
Mouthful: An Open Mic for Open Minds meets every second Friday of the month to turn the mic over to your original writing in any genre - and munch on tasty noshes while you chat informally about writing and whatever else comes to mind. The Tale of Three Trees

Local filmmaker to Present King Corn Community Cinema screening
Free sneak preview screening of documentary King Corn in advance of Independent Lens national PBS broadcast, followed by discussion with filmmaker Ian Cheney. Event is free and open to the public. Join the fun at the Second Church in Dorchester’s Easter Egg Hunt, at noon. The Cambridge Licensee Advisory Board (CLAB) announces its 2008 St. Patrick’s Day Weekend safeRide Program in association with the City of Cambridge License Commission and Ambassador/Brattle radio service. The Cambridge safeRide Program will provide free taxicab rides for St. Patrick’s Party revelers leaving from Cambridge licensed Alcohol establishments and traveling to residential addresses. This program, designed to deter driving under the influence, will be in effect in Cambridge from 7 p.m., on Saturday, March 15 until 4 a.m., Sunday, March 16. There is a $35 cap on cab rides. Sexuality & Intimacy After Cancer
The cancer experience often affects a person’s comfort of being intimate with others. In this 3-week series, we will discuss strategies that can be used to build self-confidence, adapt to a new body, and achieve a satisfying sexual life. Igbo Chief from Nigeria Shares Historic Masks and Traditions
Founding Director of the Museum of African Culture and Igbo Healer Chief Oscar Mokeme, shares stories and traditions of the Igbo people from Nigeria at 7 p.m. at Simmons College. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the Linda K. Paresky Conference Center, Main College Building, 300 The Fenway, in Boston. Oscar Mokeme will exhibit his tribal Igbo masks and reveal traditional Igbo healing rituals. Screening of Award-winning film “Silent Choices” examines race and reproductive politics
The Center for Community Health Education, Research and Service (CCHERS), in honor of Women’s History Month, proudly sponsors the screening of “Silent Choices.” The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Raytheon Amphitheater at Northeastern University.
