“From the El to the Silver Line: Photographs by Keitha L. Hassell”
Artist Reception: 6 – 8 p.m. On exhibit March 3 – April 4. The Resnikoff Gallery at Roxbury Community College invites the community to visit our new exhibition “From the El to the Silver Line: Photographs by Keitha L. Hassell.” Keitha’s initial intention was to document the last months of the elevated Orange line and share her memories of this unique time in Boston’s history. She has photographed views of the “el” and city skyline from the platform above the streets, abstracted images of the steel girders lifting the trains up high, and comparative images of the present Silver line buses rolling down the streets along the old pathways of the “el.” The photographs evoke a sense of nostalgia for the past and a contemplation of the future. This event is free and open to the public. The Resnikoff Gallery is located in the Media Arts Center of Roxbury Community College at 1234 Columbus Ave., Roxbury. The building is wheelchair accessible and located across from the Orange Line Roxbury Crossing Station as well as several bus lines.
