Global Youth Service Day in Franklin Park

Put Your Shoes On! Employment Empowerment Workshop for Youth
Facilitated by Muadi B. Dibinga, author of “Put Your Shoes On! A Step-by-Step Guide for Young People Entering the Workforce,” this interactive workshop will provide participants with practical information about how to find and keep a job; inspire them to set high standards for themselves in and outside of the workplace; and help them discover that they do have the power to create the lives that they want. They will learn: the mechanics of looking for work (including resume writing, filling out applications, etc.); how to maximize their chances of having successful interviews; how negative ‘friends’ can block their success; and much more! The Boston Conservatory Presents Children’s Opera “Pinocchio”
The Boston Conservatory Opera Program presents a weekend of children’s performances of “Pinocchio,” an operatic version of the classic tale of the same name. The opera, based on an adaptation by John Davies with music by Mozart, Offenbach, Donizetti, Pergolesi, Verdi and Sir Arthur Sullivan, will be performed Saturday, April 26 at noon and 2 p.m. at The Boston Conservatory’s Seully Hall, 8 The Fenway, 4th floor, Boston. In addition, The Boston Conservatory Opera Program returns to Brookline with a special performance on Sunday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the historic Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St. Admission to the Coolidge Corner Theatre performance is $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Harvard University Talk at Grove Hall
The Grove Hall Library is pleased to invite the community to a talk to be presented by Dr. Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham of Harvard University. Dr. Higginbotham’s presentation will be on the newly published African American National Biography, co-authored with Prof. Henry Louis Gates. The AANB is an eight volume work containing over 4,000 biographies of people past and present. The talk is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. in the Grove Hall Library Meeting Room at 5 Crawford St. Parking is available in our lot. Light refreshments will be served.
