Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from Run-DMC visited Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s Blue Hill Club in Dorchester on May 13, to talk to teens about the evolution of hip-hop, the importance of having your own dreams and avoiding negative activities. Before the lecture, he jammed privately with a few members of the “Music Clubhouse” program. He recorded lyrics that will be included in the club’s CD, which will be released in early June. Mayor Thomas M. Menino helps seven-year-old Jamesha Baker pick out a Dunkin’ Donuts treat at the Mayor’s Neighborhood Coffee Hours held at Gertrude Howes Playground in Roxbury on May 12th. During the Coffee Hour residents and caregivers received potted plants and had the chance to enter to win a “Day on the Town” including a Dunkin’ Donuts gift basket, Macy’s gift certificate, Legal Sea Foods gift certificate, Swan Boat rides, and complimentary one-day parking.
